Life, Death, and Real Underground Radio

Thanks Jimmy, that was like medicine to me, loved it. Hey how’d you do that... just make a song appear? Just email me if its some big secret but you know what I’m thinking… Yea. Something to share too.
Maybe I’m not crazy… cause I’ve been expecting and waiting for something like that to happen big time, for years, ever since experiencing something’s similar, many things, similar on a smaller scale and knew it was possible.
Reading the caption next to Bills first picture below ‘born to be wild’ someone let the cat out of the bag when it slips… ‘ KCAC remember, was pulling huge ratings AT NIGHT, long after sign-off.’ … Well the station may have been off the air but them people were still listening to something. Way ta go Bill,… I wonder if he knew that, all the while. Ummm must of.
While were honnering our dead… I do want to share something, Ron, I found on Daniels website this morning, written by Chief Seatle….

'The white man's dead forget the country of their birth when they go to walk
among the stars. Our dead never forget this beautiful Earth, for it is the
mother of the red man. We are part of the Earth and it is part of us. The
perfumed flowers are our sisters, the deer, the horse, the great eagle,
these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the juices in the meadows, the
body heat of the pony, and the man, all belong to the same family.

To us the ashes of our ancestors are sacred and their resting place is
hallowed ground. You wander far from the graves of your ancestors and
seemingly without regret. Your religion was written upon tablets of stone by
the iron finger of your God so that you could not forget. The Red Man could
never comprehend or remember it. Our religion is the traditions of our
ancestors -- the dreams of our old men, given them in solemn hours of the
night by the Great Spirit; and the visions of our sachems, and is written in
the hearts of our people.

Your dead cease to love you and the land of their nativity as soon as they
pass the portals of the tomb and wander away beyond the stars. They are soon
forgotten and never return. Our dead never forget this beautiful world that
gave them being. They still love its verdant valleys, its murmuring rivers,
its magnificent mountains, sequestered vales and verdant lined lakes and
bays, and ever yearn in tender fond affection over the lonely hearted
living, and often return from the happy hunting ground to visit, guide,
console, and comfort them....

Let him [the white man] be just and deal kindly with my people, for the dead
are not powerless. Dead, did I say?… There is no death, only a change of
worlds. '
'Cheif Seatle'

Well enough for now. Just wanted to get that up and out.
Love Ya’ll
Keep the faith

DEAD CENTER, Bruce.... Thank you.

HOW did KCAC pull ratings after sign off? Well for one, I used to TAPE bill's show when I was busy with "real life stuff".. At the end of the day, you rewind the reel-to-reel or flip the cassette over and enjoy the finest radio available anywhere.

THAT IS THE VERY REASON I am hoping kids will ask their parents (and now grandparents) about old tapes and old cassettes and old pictures and old posters and old artifacts in old hiding places and storage bins.

I mean, other than Radio Free Phoenix - how long has it been since you've HEARD Tom Rush, Moffit and Davies, Hoyt Axton, Tim Buckley, Janis Ian or Laura Nyro? For that matter, Edith Piaf or Eartha Kitt?

This was CHOICE STUFF and we as listeners KNEW it and TAPED it and STORED IT here and there. Pegi's Vault is the graphics version of that same concept.

The more I think about Jimmy's idea of an online MUSEUM of sound clips, photos, writings and so on, the more I like it. It could point the way to what is POSSIBLE with free minds and God knows The Future NEEDS that. It could literally, be the gratest gift we could give the new generations of people who are just as bewildered as we were.

The words of The Prophets are written on the subway walls - and tenement halls... and BLOGS and CD's and DVD's.

And backups. Don't forget the backups.

Absolutely! Lets help Jimmy make his next dream come true!! (o: It's not just for us, you hit the nail on the head!! ("if i had a hammer....:)

Bobby Darrin's song "Me and Mr Hohner" has been going round and round in my head and of course where did I hear that? RFP. Anybody out there got any Hedge and Donna??? That's something I'd give my eye teeth (what the heck does that mean, anyway?) to hear!!

IF it can be found, it will be played by Andy Olson that's the beauty of it all.

Bruce, thanks for sharing that beautiful prayer to Mother Earth. I read yesterday of a mother black bear and her cub, shot and killed by AZ game and fish this week, for coming too close to humans and not exibiting fear of humans. So sad...thanks for the lovely words from the Chief, they helped.

Did I have that on my site? Goodness... I knew I had a recording of one of his speeches on my Multimedia Files page, and a link there to the Wikipedia information on him, but didn't know I had that tucked away somewhere. Man I've got so much there, I've been collecting "neat stuff" and sticking it on the site for a few years now... I tend to forget... perhaps you found it somewhere through a link from my site? Ah, no matter, really, wherever you found it, it's great, isn't it?

One of my favorite books of all times, one of several that really changed the way I look at things, is Hanta Yo! by Ruth Beebe Hill, written in collaboration with an old and very wise Lakota man. In it Beebe points out that, in order to understand the Native American way of life, and way of looking at things, one must first understand that the Native American lived in a state of "habitual spiritual consciousness," and the implications of that fact. I believe if one works to develop a habitual spiritual consciousness, amazing insights will follow. Chief Seattle, Chief Joseph, Geronimo, and so many other Native leaders, past and even today, had (and have) such a profound attunement to the Great Spirit and Mother Earth, and such a natural eloquence rooted in and growing from that very intimate and personal relationship with the universe, that their writings and speeches hold great power, and touch that holy place inside us. Imagine a society where everyone is habitually aware of the spiritual aspects of life, committed in their very deepest consciousness and conscience to improving their spirituality. Whew!

That would create a lasting peace...I guess if there's paradise, that's it. Beautiful posts from you and Liz.

Yeah, lets build our new houses and fake lakes out where the wildlife roam and forage for food, and then shoot 'em if they too close for OUR comfort.

Did either of you see the documentary about the guy who lived with the bears in Alaska for many years (not an animal behaviorist or biologist, just a guy) who did great work informing people about bears, their natural habitat and needs, etc.

Yet he got so wrapped up in his spiritual pull with them that he neglected to pay attention to warning signs that others tried to make him see; ignored the reality of insinct over emotion. He thought he had a special bond with them no matter what the circumstances, and ignored the bear's innate survival instinct.

So he and his girlfriend were of course killed by a hungry, desperate bear that had been seen nuzzling the guy in earlier videos (when food was plenty and it wasn't too cold to exist!) The guy had talked about what a special relationship he had with the bears, especially that one, which he no doubt did!! But he scoffed at the animal experts who warned him to remember that they were wiild bears.

The tragic end for the couple was made worse by the fact that the park service had to shoot the bear that killed them fearing that once it killed humans it would do it again. I'm sure it broke their hearts. Our arrogance about being at the top of the 'food chain' has always astonished me.

Liz does some fabulous work with animals in need, she is a veritable St Francis of Assisi in her own right. Check out her website.

By the way if anyone is looking for a genuine healer for their pet and is in this area, a woman who is working on one of our Weimaraners has performed some little miracles for our dog.
