Song of the Day, and other catching up...

Wow! I'm so pleased to hear a different version of this song (I Bid You Goodnight / A Very Cellular Song)! What a nice job they did, too, thanks for sharing.

I finally had a chance to visit the Arizona Music Hall of Fame, too - what a great collection of contributors to the Arizona music scene, and, truth be known, the whole world of music. I'd just like to express my gratitude to all those who helped foster and promote a deep appreciation for the magic of music.

I also visited the KCDX site, and while I'm unable to get the connection to listen to Radio Free Phoenix, the link on the KCDX site worked just fine, and there's good music playing there! I'm curious where that link came from, and wonder who's behind it? Could it be a familiar name from long ago, or perhaps even one of our own KCAC Lives members? Whoever's doing it, I'm glad we've got a link here. Thanks again.

Blessings to all...

Did you try clicking the "play" icon on this page under the Radio Free Phoenix link at left? I'm testing some coding that should allow you to hear RFP on this page by just clicking that button. Try it and let me know if it works. (And Andy O. - let me know if you don't want that direct link on here.) Thanks!

Howdy, Jimmy!

Yes, I tried hat little 'Play' button - I've tried about everything I can think of, including lowering all my security and privacy settings to nothing and opening the link directly with Windows Media Player instead of through my browser... I've tried on different days, different times of the day, and with different browsers, nothing seems to work for me. Waaaaaah! Thanks for the reply though, an' I hope you're havin' a fine day.

KCDX is pretty unusual. Owned by a resourceful guy named Ted Tucker, who became fairly wealthy moving under-utilized broadcast licenses closer to major cities, thereby increasing their value. Tucker underwrites the operating cost of this commercial frequency himself (doesn't sell any commercial time I'm aware of). He plays what he wants, which includes some of the things you might have heard on KCAC or KDKB back in the day. It's unknown if a reasonable offer to buy might someday result in the sale of KCDX, but most of us are happy it's been there all this time pumping out Tucker's interesting format.

Hey, thanks, azmtbear! Ted Tucker, eh? Well, I'm sure glad he's doin' it, too. Didn't even know about it 'til a few days ago, I'll have to go back and listen again one of these days soon. I am havin' a fine day, thanks, and hope you are too.

Regards...

I did a long article on KCDX for New Times back in Sept.'03, exploring the mystery and in the process talking to some KDKB vets like Wonderful Russ and Dwight Tindle. Here's the link, if anyone wants to read the whole story:
